Hi, my name is Sam. I’m 33 years old, happily married and mother to two children (6yrs and 3yrs). I’m a lifelong warfarin user after suffering with blood clots in June 2009 and October 2012.
I’ve always had a weight complex, but I didn’t have a real weight problem until I moved in with my husband when I was 19 years old. I stopped going out dancing, got used to the comfortable life and my husband is an amazing cook. The weight slowly crept up, then in 2001 we decided to stop smoking. We knew this would have a negative effect on our weight but we decided it was worth it in the long run. We stopped smoking, we gained a ton of weight, then we set about losing the weight in 2004, by October 2005 I’d lost over 4 stone with Slimming World.
I enjoyed being slimmer for a while, then fell pregnant with my first child…then I had a second and now I’m back here trying to lose the weight I gained in both pregnancies. I’ve tried, unsuccessfully, over the past 3 years to lose the weight but then I had a health scare in October last year and now I’m determined to make this my last go at this, not because I want to fit into that tight black dress, or because I want to be happy with what I see on the scales, but because I want to be healthy. I want to know that I’m looking after my body, I want be around to see my children grow and maybe even their children. So here’s to the last time I “start again” this time next year I want to be at, or very close to my target weight.
